Birmingham Bulldogs 68pts, North East Worcestershire Ravens 18

Birmingham Bulldogs Rugby League FC bounced back from their previous week’s defeat against Telford with an emphatic victory over North East Worcestershire Ravens. The home backs, particularly the three quarters, broke through from the off and the visitors had their work cut out to stem the flow.
Brum scored straight from the kick-off, Dudley’s break ending with stand-off Nic Evans crossing in the left corner. Next came a scorching run and try from debutant Dan Ventrella; centre Sam Edgar goaled. Then good work by Gadd saw centre Adam “Beefy” Burton race to the posts for a try, Edgar converting; skipper and full back Matt Dudley broke through to touch down (goal Edgar) to make it 24-0 in little more than 15 minutes.
At last Ravens got some good possession, and Jay Edwards went over following a scrum, David Wimbury goaling.
Dudley and Edgar added another try and goal for Brum; John Freeman and Wimbury replied in kind for Ravens. Birmingham then rounded off the half as, following a good run from Walker, Edgar joined the try-scorers, adding the goal himself.

Edgar added six more points early in the second half, before Dudley claimed his hat-trick try.
Brum’s next two tries came from kicks, Dudley being first to a loose ball in-goal, then
came a skidding catch and touch down from debutant James Weller from Harry Baldock’s cross kick. (NB A.Baldock also in side)
A storming break from Hunt yielded six more points for Edgar, before Ravens’ Anton Taylor ran strongly to register a deserved score for the visitors, who were battling to the end. Last word to Bulldogs, as sub centre Chris Bell ran off some of his hangover to score on the right.

So, a good performance from Bulldogs for whom Dudley pipped Evans and Edgar as man-of-the match for the hosts; Anton Taylor was Ravens’ MOTM.

Bulldogs next fixture is at home to Leicester Storm “A” on Saturday week [June 1] at 2:30 pm
